Claire and Joseph’s marquee wedding, Port Eynon, Gower, Swansea
This is a tale about how, no matter how much you plan and how much you hope, sometimes the weather in Wales doesn’t play ball. BUT if you have a plan B it won’t matter.
The whole bridal party prepared for the big day at Claire’s family home in Port Eynon, Gower. It was raining.
Joseph and the lads had planned to go for a morning swim in the sea and we timed it at a quiet point in the preparations so I could go and take some shots……in the rain. Thanks to Sarah Marie the hair stylist for letting me borrow your hair dryer when I got back, to dry off my soaked trousers. Make up artist Katie Lancey was also there (although I didn’t need her help).
Through the morning I floated between the bride and groom getting ready next door which was lovely because there were so many wonderful little moments to capture. Claire had previously asked if I would take some pictures while she was breastfeeding baby Joe and amongst all the chaos of hair, make up, flowers, dresses and people running around, I was able to capture a lovely moment of the two of them.
The wedding ceremony took place at St Andrews Church in Penrice…it was still raining. Claire had arranged a number of private access locations for the couple photographs and despite the weather we took their little camper van for a drive and managed to get some shots, but by this time I had suggested if the rain didn’t stop I would meet up with them the next day. (you’ll see these shots right at the bottom of this page)
A big arrival and outdoor blessing had also been arranged which had to be brought inside the marquee, it turned into a cosy ceremony performed by one of Joseph’s Best Men.
County Marquees provided the huge venue with flowers by Elizabeth Gordon
catering by Holdens Catering and refreshments by Beetle Juice and Gower Brewery
After the wedding breakfast entertainment was provided by The MT’s
AND IT STOPPED RAINING !!!!! for about half and hour, plenty of time to get some shots of Claire and Joseph outside as it was going dark. I even managed to get a shot of Joseph’s VW camper outside the marquee with the stars out moments before it clouded over again.
This was such a fun wedding to attend, both bride and groom, their families and even baby Joe were so layed back throughout the whole day.
And next day we were blessed with great weather. I met up with Joseph and Claire in her amazing Vera Wang wedding dress from David’s Bridal, at Port Eynon and I was able to capture the shots we’d hoped for the day before.
There are a lot of pictures in this post, I hope they give you a feel of the day.
